Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG)
What is FOG and what does it mean for me?
Fog is the acronym for Fats, Oils and Grease. FOG comes from meat fats in food scraps, cooking oil, shortening, lard, butter and margarine, gravy, and food products such as mayonnaise, salad dressings, and sour cream. FOG that is poured down drains in the house will harden over time and cause a blockage. This can result in sewer backing up in your house or even a sewer spill.
WIPES ARE NOT FLUSHABLE
Baby wipes are NOT flushable even if the packaging says “Flushable”. These products will not break down and can lead to a sewer stop up.
