Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for anonymous tips that lead to the arrest, the seizure of stolen property or illegal narcotics. The program offers citizens an anonymous method for providing vital information about crime to police without fear of retaliation and assists law enforcement with the clearance of crimes.

Contact Methods
Citizens now have several ways to contact Crime Stoppers:

  • By Phone: Callers can remain anonymous by calling our unrecorded phone number at 336-476-8477 to provide tips about crime in and around the Thomasville area. A secret code will be assigned that may be used later by the caller to collect a reward based on the fruitfulness of the tip 
  • Online: Simply fill out the Web Tip Information Form to submit a tip online

Reward Process

If the information leads to an arrest, seizure of drugs or stolen property,  the caller becomes eligible for a reward. Their case is presented at the next monthly Board of Director's meeting. The Board decides what reward is appropriate, based on the usefulness of the information.

Program History and Statistics

Crime Stoppers of Thomasville is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1993.  A group of community volunteers along with members of the Thomasville Police Department initiated a Crime Stoppers Program to assist local law enforcement with the clearance of crimes and enhance the quality of life to the community. Since inception in 1993, Crime Stoppers of Thomasville has received 1,798 tips, an average of 5.8 tips each month.  These tips range from robbery, murder, property crimes, thefts, wanted fugitives, drug and alcohol violations.  Of the 1,798 tips received, 1,164 cases have been closed or cleared by the Thomasville Police Department.  There have been 954 individuals arrested as a result of tips received with a total of 1,104 charges filed against these 954 individuals, with an additional 146 Fugitives arrested who were wanted from other jurisdictions.  Tips to Crime Stoppers of Thomasville have led to the recovery of $755,319.00 of stolen property that was returned to the owners, and the seizure of illegal narcotics with a street value of $2,933,139.00.  Crime Stoppers or Thomasville has approved 572 tips to be eligible for a reward with reward amounts totaling $90,386.00.

Funding

Organizers volunteer their time and efforts to raise the necessary funds to get this program started.   Through the years, the Crime Stopper Board members have worked diligently to maintain the funding needed to keep the program successful and moving forward.  Program funding is sustainable through individuals, biannual BBQ’s and local foundations that seek to improve the quality of life in Thomasville.  To make a contribution, send your check to:
